Bangladesh Climate Change Trust (BCCT) and German Development Co-operation (GIZ) undertook a project titled ‘Market Development Initiative for Bondhu Chula’. The aim of the project was to create 5000 entrepreneurs, who could produce, sell and install Bondhu Chula as a part of their business. The project was successfully implemented by DoE and GIZ and was completed on 31st March 2014.
After the establishment of BONDHU, BCCT approved the second phase of the project ‘Market Development Initiative for Bondhu Chula’. Under this new phase, 400,000 Bondhu Chula were expected to be installed during the period from 01 July 2015 to 31 December 2016. This project was successfully completed by DoE and GIZ, which is being implemented by the Bangladesh Bondhu Foundation (BONDHU).

LGED
is a government agency under the Ministry of Local Government, Rural
Development and Cooperatives and is one of the largest engineering agencies in
the country. LGED began its journey in the 60s as Rural Work Program and with
the passage of time, its activities expanded from the remotest corner of the
country to the cities.
Bangladesh Bondhu Foundation and LGED signed an MoU on 15th January 2020 to implement the Improved cookstove program. According to the MoU, LGED will promote the Bondhu Chula Program as a joint program of LGED and BONDHU to the local governments (union parishads and upazila parishads) offices and local administration (UNO office). LGED will take steps to motivate and coordinate with the local governments to accelerate the implementation of the program. Both LGED and BONDHU will be represented by the local Government Engineering Department (LGED).
