Story of MD. Kashem Sarder, the proprietor of Sarder Sanitary - Bangladesh Bondhu Foundation (BONDHU)

Story of MD. Kashem Sarder, the proprietor of Sarder Sanitary

MD. Kashem Sarder, the proprietor of Sarder Sanitary, embarked on a journey of entrepreneurship that transformed his life and the lives of those around him. In 2015, he initially ventured into the egg business, but the venture did not yield the desired success. Being immersed in setbacks, Kashem sought guidance from his nephew, who was involved in the sanitary business.

Inspired by his nephew's enterprise, Kashem decided to establish his own sanitary factory in 2017. Despite employing staff, the business failed to generate profits, leading him to borrow money to sustain both his business and family. Being unable to run his sanitary business properly Kashem, after consulting with his family, he made the difficult decision to quit the sanitary business.

In a twist of fate, in September 2020, the District Manager of Bangladesh Bondhu Foundation (BONDHU) in Madaripur, MD. Al Mamun, visited Kashem's factory. During this visit, Kashem was introduced to the Bondhu Chula initiative, and the manager presented a draft of the potential profits from the Bondhu Chula business.

After careful calculations with the Bondhu Chula manager, Kashem realized that selling one-pot chula and two-pot chula at reasonable rates could not only bring in profits for him but also contribute to environmental conservation. Motivated by the opportunity to make a positive impact, Kashem decided to initiate the Bondhu Chula business.

His association with Bangladesh Bondhu Foundation (BONDHU) began in October 2020, and since then, his factory has been setting up 250 to 300 Chulas per month. This not only provided Kashem with a sustainable source of income but also created employment opportunities, making family of 10 workers self-reliant.

With the profits generated from the Bondhu Chula business and after paying previous debts, Kashem started a pipe-making business. The combination of pipe sales and Bondhu Chula production allowed him to turn a profit, paving the way for a happier and more stable life.

Expressing his gratitude, Kashem acknowledges the pivotal role played by Bangladesh Bondhu Foundation (BONDHU) in providing him with the opportunity to work with them.
