BONDHU stands by the flood-stricken people

BONDHU, in collaboration with Bashori- A Nazrul Center, has consistently extended aid to those in need during crises and disasters, including natural calamities and outbreaks. When Sylhet, a northeastern division of Bangladesh, faced one of its worst floods in history starting on June 16, 2022, the situation became dire. People in Sylhet found themselves stranded in flash floods, lacking shelter, food, clean water, and everyday essentials. Responding swiftly, BONDHU and Bashori- A Nazrul Center joined hands to provide relief to those affected by the floods in Sylhet.

On June 26, 2022, a total relief aid of 12 lakh taka, comprising rice, pulses, potatoes, onions, saline, and water purification tablets, was disbursed in North Sreepur Union of Tahirpur Upazila, Sunamganj district. The relief distribution involved the presence of representatives from the union parishad, staff members from Bangladesh Bondhu Foundation's head office, district, and upazila branches. Employees of BONDHU also contributed to this noble cause by donating a day's salary.

Further aid was extended on July 22, 2022, through a joint effort between Bangladesh Bondhu Foundation (BONDHU), Bashori- A Nazrul Center, and South Korea's Ecoeye Co. Ltd. Relief goods were distributed across six shelter centers in Balaganj and Osmaninagar Upazilas of Sylhet, benefiting a total of 570 families. Each flood-affected family received 2,000 taka, along with a sari, a lungi, a towel, water purification tablets, oral saline, soaps, detergent powder, biscuits, and more as part of the relief aid. This collective effort aimed to provide immediate support to those grappling with the aftermath of the devastating floods.
