Bashori Celebrates its 10th Founding Anniversary

On November 4, Bashori – A Nazrul Centre, a sister organization of the Bangladesh Bondhu Foundation (BONDHU) marked its 10th founding anniversary with a grand celebration, honoring nearly a decade of dedicated efforts to promote the legacy of national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam. The day marked Bashori’s dedicated efforts to promote the works of national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam, and the celebration brought together members, artists, guests, and admirers of the organization.


The day began with a floral tribute to Kazi Nazrul Islam at his cemetery at 11 AM. Dr. Engineer Khalequzzaman, the founding president of Bashori, led the members and artists in honoring the poet. The tribute was followed by a vibrant rally, during which participants sang Bashori’s theme song, "Joy Hok, Joy Hok", composed by Nazrul. The first segment of the event concluded with the release of colorful balloons into the sky, symbolizing the joy of the occasion.


In the evening, the second part of the celebration took place at the head office of the Bangladesh Bondhu Foundation. The venue was beautifully decorated with balloons, flowers, and colorful trinkets, setting a festive atmosphere. Dr. Khalequzzaman was warmly greeted with bouquets by guests and well-wishers, marking the occasion.


The evening’s program was officially kicked off with the ceremonial cutting of the anniversary cake, followed by a welcome speech by Dr. Khalequzzaman.


The event was graced by the esteemed presence of renowned folk and Lalon music artist Farida Parveen, Nazrul Sangeet maestro Salah Uddin Ahmed, and the distinguished artist and freedom fighter Dr. Monoranjan Ghoshal from the Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra. Other notable attendees included Mr. A. F. M. Hayatullah, former Executive Director of the Kabi Nazrul Institute, Dr. Mohammad Harun or Rashid, former Regional Director of Bangladesh Betar, Rangpur, and Director (Technical and Engineering) of the Bangladesh Film Development Corporation, Swagata, the central character of the play Baner Meye Pakhi and popular television actress added a unique dimension to the event with their presence.


These distinguished personalities shared their admiration for Bashori’s role in preserving and promoting Nazrul’s legacy, praising the organization for its vibrant cultural contributions. The artists from plays like "Baner Meye Pakhi," "Aleya," and "Setu Bondho" also added charm to the event.


Tito Munsi, a celebrated reciter, and Sudam Kumar Biswas, a singer and music teacher at Bashori, were honored for their significant contributions to the organization. Both were presented with medals and crests in recognition of their dedication. All artists who performed at the event were honored with medals.


The event concluded with a festive feast, bringing together all who had gathered to celebrate this important milestone in Bashori’s journey.
