BONDHU Medical Team Provides Healthcare for Flood Victims

In response to the severe flash flooding affecting Cumilla and Noakhali districts, the BONDHU Medical Team of the Bangladesh Bondhu Foundation (BONDHU) and Bashori - A Nazrul Centre have successfully conducted medical camps to support flood-affected communities. These initiatives have been instrumental in delivering free medical aid and medications to approximately 2,000 individuals in need.

On August 27, 2024, the BONDHU Medical Team organized a medical camp in Nangalkot Upazila, Cumilla, where around 600 people received essential medical services. The Rongtuli Youth Foundation extended its helping hand in facilitating this event.

From September 4-5, 2024, a two-day long medical camp was held across various locations in Senbagh Upazila of Noakhali, providing medical aid and medications to approximately 1,400 individuals. This initiative was facilitated by the Upazila Social Service Officer and local volunteer organizations, who contributed significantly to the camp's success.

Locals have expressed their profound gratitude for the medical aid and medications provided by the BONDHU Medical Team, particularly noting that no other medical teams have yet reached their areas. Despite ongoing floodwaters that continue to impede transportation and access to Upazila Sadar, the medical camps have been a crucial source of relief for many.

Doctors involved in the medical camps have reported a significant rise in skin issues, fever, waterborne diseases, and other health risks among the flood victims. They have emphasized the importance of these medical camps in addressing these urgent health concerns.

Dr. Engineer Khalequzzaman, the founder of BONDHU and Bashori, commented, "In the future, we will undertake more such initiatives to stand by the disaster-affected people and ensure their health care."

The medical team, comprising Dr. Suborna Sarker, Dr. Umme Kulsum, Dr. Uday Rahman, Dr. Tania Afrin, Dr. Monjur Rahman, and Mohammad Shah Alam (4th-year MBBS student), expressed their satisfaction with the positive impact of the medical camps.
