Seminar on Tree Plantation Held at Chakaria and Moheskhali
Bangladesh Bondhu Foundation (BONDHU) arranged a seminar on tree plantation on 17Th September 2023/Bangla 2nd Ashwin 1430 on Sunday at ICDDR Seminar Room, Chakaria, Cox’s Bazar.
In the occasion, Upazila Chairman of Chakaria, Cox’s Bazar Mr. Alhaj Fajlul Karim Saeedi grace the occasion as chief guest and Mr. Sheikh Abul Kalam Azad, Assistant Conservator of Forest was present as the special guest. The chairmen of all the union parishad’s were the guest of honor in the event. Shreya Dutta, Manager- Carbon Offset Project of VNV Advisory Services Ltd. was also present as the guest of honor in the event.
The speakers at the event stressed the importance of planting trees and discussed various local problems and prospects regarding tree plantation. Dr. Engr. Khalequzzaman, Founder and Program Manager of Bangladesh Bondhu Foundation (BONDHU) chaired the event. He talked about various projects of Bangladesh Bondhu Foundation (BONDHU). He shed light on the importance of tree plantation and explained the reason behind the title of the project “Climate-friendly Tree Plantation”. All trees are not climate-friendly and some of the species do not suit with our environment, he stated. As an example, he mentioned the name of Eucalyptus tree which does not suit with our environment, hence this tree is not enlisted in the list of 52 trees of Bangladesh Bondhu Foundation (BONDHU). For this, BONDHU discourages to plant the sapling of this harmful tree. The event was concluded with the closing speech of Dr. Engr. Khalequzzaman.
