Two-day-long Bondhu Mela observed at Fulbari, Dinajpur
The Bangladesh Bondhu Foundation (BONDHU) orchestrated a spectacular two-day fair, the Bondhu Mela (Bondhu Fair), held at Fulbari, Dinajpur, on December 4th and 5th, 2022. The event commenced with an auspicious inauguration on Sunday, December 4th, at the Khayerbari playground in Khayerbari Bazar, Fulbari, marked by colorful events and festivities.
Agriculturist Mrityunjoy Roy delivered a welcome speech to the attendees, setting the tone for the event. Distinguished figures graced the occasion, including Prof. Md. Aminul Haque Sarkar, former principal of Fulbari Government College, Dinajpur, and former secretary of the Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, Dinajpur. Besides, the presence of esteemed guests such as Ms. Hasina Parveen, Member of Zilla Parishad (Fulbari, Parvatipur), and former Women Vice Chairman of Fulbari, Dinajpur; Agriculturist Mr. Bibhutibhushan Sarkar, Former Additional Director of the Directorate of Agricultural Extension, Dhaka Region; Mr. Md. Riaz Uddin, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Fulbari, Dinajpur; and Mr. Rumman Akter, Upazila Agriculture Officer of Fulbari, Dinajpur, added significance to the event. Md. Enamul Haque, Chairman of No. 5 Khayerbari Union Parishad, Fulbari, Dinajpur, presided over the meeting.
The cultural segment featured the staging of 'Bouyer Biye' (Wife's Marriage), a play penned by Kazi Nazrul Islam, accompanied by a diverse array of cultural programs.
In the fair, Kazi Nazrul Islam's literary works was available at 50% discount, while seed and seedling companies presented their products at stalls, promoting climate-friendly agriculture and cultivation. Demonstrations of cooking in the traditional Bondhu Chula provided a glimpse into culinary traditions, with cooked food also available for purchase.
The two-day-long Bondhu Mela came to an end on Monday, December 5th, 2022.
