Two-day Water Festival held at Shyam Nagar, Satkhira

At the Nawabeki Secondary School premises near Atulia Union Parishad in Shyamnagar, Satkhira an animated 'Water Festival' took place on January 15 and 16, 2023. This vibrant celebration marked the auspicious inauguration of the drinking water supply plant, a significant milestone under the Drinking Water Supply Project led by the Bangladesh Bondhu Foundation (BONDHU).

The festival welcomed esteemed dignitaries, including the Honorable Member of Parliament for Satkhira No. 4 constituency, Mr. SM Jaglul Haider, MP, as the honorable chief guest.  A host of dignitaries such as Mr. SM Ataul Haque Dolan, Chairman of Upazila Parishad, Shyamnagar, Satkhira, Mr. Md. Moktar Hossain, Upazila Nirbahi Officer, Shyamnagar, Satkhira, Mr. Md. Abu Saleh Babu, Chairman of Atulia Union Parishad, Shyamnagar, Satkhira, and Mr. Md. Mostafizur Rahman, Assistant Engineer from the Directorate of Public Health Engineering, Shyamnagar, Satkhira, graced the event as special guests.

Under the supervision of Mr. Md. Asaduzzaman Mithu, Head Teacher of Nawabeki Secondary School, Atulia, Shyamnagar, Satkhira, the festival commenced with the grand opening ceremony, featuring enthralling Nazrul music, engaging recitation competitions, cockfights for boys, biscuit races for girls, and captivating cultural performances. The chief guest inaugurated the water plant, symbolizing the commencement of this initiative.

The second day brought forth a spirited array of activities, including a Kabadi competition for men, a musical ball pass, and entertaining balloon games for women. Alongside the festivities, stalls curated by Bangladesh Bondhu Foundation (BONDHU) and various entrepreneurs showcased a diverse array of products, including nurseries, rice cakes, and an exhibition of saplings. The foundation's stall displayed the activities of the drinking water supply project through demos.

The festival culminated in a vibrant prize distribution ceremony and a lively cultural programme, marking the conclusion of the two-day jubilant event.
